Declan Jenkins and Jake Vernon were given their marching orders towards the end of a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the mid-table Lions.

It was Teversal’s third defeat in four home matches so far this term and left them in the bottom five of the East Midlands Counties League, Premier Division table with just nine points.

They made a positive start by taking a 12th minute lead when Vernon guided the ball home from a corner delivered at pace by Danny O’Donnell.

And although Heanor responded eight minutes later when Jamie Sleigh drilled an excellent low effort across ‘keeper Josh Turton, Teversal were soon back in front when Matt Wilkinson climbed high to loop in a header from Jack Griffiths’s cross.

However, the visitors took only three minutes this time to equalise as Robert Ritchie-Smith’s corner found Stuart Baker ghosting into the six-yard box to head powerfully home.

And 12 minutes into the second half, Heanor grabbed what proved to be the winner. Moments after Sleigh had smashed a shot against the bar, Kyle Daley volleyed home.

As tempers flared late on, Jenkins saw red after a fracas only four minutes after going on as a substitute and Vernon followed for a reckless challenge.
