Top of the table clash for Selston in NSL

The Precision NSL Senior Division’s top two teams meet at the WSA as second placed Wollaton host leaders Selston.

Wollaton will want to atone for the heavy defeat they suffered at Selston early in the season.

A win would put them level on points with their visitors.

Beeston welcome third-placed West Bridgford to the Hetley Pearson Rec without a number of key players.

Goalkeeper Luke Gibbons and his brother Sam are away and joint top scorer Alex Cook is also unavailable.

West Bridgford beat Cotgrave in the NSL Senior Cup in midweek.

Cotgrave are unbeaten in their last four matches as they travel to Elms Park to face Ruddington Village.

Ruddington are suffering an injury crisis at the moment and had to play the second half of their loss to PMG Cavaliers last week with only 10 men.

Awsworth Villa come into their game against Bingham Town at The Shilo off the back of their third league win of the season. Bingham are attempting to continue their unbeaten run that stretches back to before Christmas.

Boro lost a high octane game against Wollaton by the odd goal in three last weekend, but gave a good account of themselves after having Alex Oldham sent off after 25 minutes.

Last weekend reigning champions, Selston, entertained last season’s Division One winners, Kirton Brickworks.

The clubs have experienced contrasting fortunes this season as Selston are once again top of the league whereas Kirton are at the foot of the table.

The match followed the form book with Jay Cooper contributing four goals in Selston’s 9-0 victory. Tim Moore and Joe Taylor got two apiece and Perry Marriott added the ninth.

The win maintains Selston’s three point lead over Wollaton, who won a hard fought encounter, 2-1, away at local rivals Attenborough.

Jordan Alls put the visitors ahead after eight minutes with a long range effort but Boro were back on level terms just over 10 minutes later thanks to Danny Prance.

The hosts did well to maintain parity, considering that they were reduced to 10 men after half an hour, as Alex Oldham was sent off, but with time running out Ryan Bowen’s deflected shot handed Wollaton all three points.

West Bridgford stay third after they came from behind to beat Burton Joyce at Regatta Way.

Ryan Clements put BJ ahead after the break but Alex Hoctor and Kevin Walker sealed a 2-1 win for the home side.

Cotgrave were convincing 4-0 winners away at Boots Athletic. The goals were shared between Shaun Jackson, Jamie Kirkby, Kyle Waddell and Ben Smedley.

Bingham Town were less convincing in their performance but, nevertheless, ran out 2-0 winners away at Bilborough Town.

John Morley netted in the first half following a scramble in the box then Ed Hodgson put the game beyond doubt in the second period.

PMG Cavaliers won 3-0 away at an injury-ravaged Ruddington Village.

Ruddington were unable to name any substitutes and played the entire second half with only 10 men following an injury to Matt Carver. Im’main Samuels, Ricky Cross and Jack Barnes got Cavs’ goals.

Having been 2-0 up at half-time it took a last minute winner for Sandhurst to overcome Beeston 3-2 at Forest Lane.

Kyle Clarkson bagged a brace for the hosts, in addition to one from Jamie Charlton. Steve Oldham and Gareth Bentley scored for Beeston.

It was first versus second in Division One as Newark Flowserve entertained Underwood Villa.

The visitors have narrowed the gap at the top of the table to nine points with three games in hand thanks to a 2-0 win. Josh Niblett scored both.

Wollaton Reserves and Ruddington Village Reserves drew 2-2. Anthony Fragola and Jordan Warriner were on target for the hosts, Ashdon Hillyard and Kaiden Burke-Campbell for Village.

Netherfield Albion and Linby Colliery Welfare Reserves also shared the spoils in an eight goal thriller. Chris Kemp(2), Louis Tambini and James Leivers scored for Albion; Darren Dickinson added to a Luke Price hat-trick for Linby.

Sean Chapman scored a hat-trick in Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves’ 3-0 win away at Gedling Southbank.

Having been without a league win all season, Awsworth Villa Reserves have now made it two in two with a 3-1 victory away at Radcliffe Olympic Reserves.

Magdala Amateurs also got their second win of the season, 3-1 at home to Southwell City Reserves. Nottinghamshire and Ashland Rovers drew 0-0.

Hucknall Rolls Leisure Reserves were in NSL Junior Cup action, defeating South Normanton Athletic Reserves 6-2, including two goals each for Matt Rick and Andy Start.

Watnall Athletic stayed top of Division Two with 4-0 victory away at AFC Clifton.

Kimberley Miners Welfare AFC are keeping up the pressure at the top, following 4-1 home win over FC Samba, as are Aspley Park, who were 6-0 winners over Nottinghamshire Reserves, with Lewis McGoogan grabbing a hat-trick.

Cotgrave Reserves beat Sandhurst Reserves 3-1.
