Thoresby suffer shock cup exit to Eastwood

An own goal and one for Ryan McLeod clinched it for Eastwood, Thoresby’s scorer was Lewis Bingham.

Blidworth Welfare came from behind to pip Boots Athletic 4-3 with goals from Max Curzon (2), Liam Theakstone and Sam Dockwray.

Sherwood Colliery pushed East Midland Counties side Radford all the way, but after a most creditable performance finally fell to a 5-4 defeat.

Sherwood’s scorers were Ben Burbanks, Craig Payne, Brad Straw and Nick Langford.

A goal ten minutes from time by Leon Aikman saw Hucknall Town through at the expense of Real United.

A depleted Newark Town bowed out 3-1 at the hands of Ruddington Village, Max King the Blues’ scorer, while Ollerton Town fell by the same margin at Wollaton, their goal coming from Jamie McAllister.

The Derbyshire FA Challenge Cup produced little more in the way of cheer.

A much-changed Glapwell side bowed out of this year’s Derbyshire FA Senior Cup at the first round stage after a 4-0 home defeat to fellow CML side Swanwick Pentrich Road.

There wasn’t much between the sides in the opening exchanges but the game was put out of Glapwell’s reach by three Swanwick goals in seven first half minutes.

Firstly, Guy Wilding got on the end of a through ball before tucking the ball past Ryan Hopkins.

Just three minutes later, he scored nearly an identical goal to double his side’s lead.

Ash Buxton then capitalised on a mistake at the back to make it three for the visitors, who deservedly had the game out of Glapwell’s reach at half-time.

Glapwell were slightly better after the break, but were still second best as the visitors made it four on the hour when Liam Dolan reacted quickest to slot home after Ryan Hopkins had blocked the original shot.

Glapwell had a couple of chances through Jordan Hall, who was inches away from a goal of the season before Jason Foster saw his free kick crash back off the post.

In CML Black Dragon Badges North Division, a late revival by Welbeck Welfare just failed to get them a share of the spoils at home to Dinnington Town, the final score 2-1 to the visitors.

Kyle Spooner and Chris Kirk put Dinnington ahead, a late reply from Ben Simpson proving to be not quite enough.

The points were shared between Harrowby Saints and Southwell City in in the Black Dragon Badges South Division, Tom Scott and Jack Millward’s goals for the home side being answered by Tarik Nadif and Stef Whitely.
