Thomas Flower’s Nottingham Forest Blog: Opportunity knocks for Henri Lansbury

When Forest landed midfielder Henri Lansbury on a four-year deal from Arsenal I think a lot of supporters sat up and took note, I was one of them. Lansbury is a player with real pedigree having had successful loan spells at Watford, Norwich and West Ham, helping the latter two achieve promotion to the Premier League. We are all hoping he can have the same impact at the City Ground.

Lansbury has yet to make his Reds debut as he recovers from a minor injury, but his opportunity could be just around the corner. With fellow midfielder Adlène Guedioura about to embark on a three match suspension following his dismissal at Crystal Palace, Lansbury could soon find himself thrust into action.

There is a real sense of excitement about his debut as his creativity and quality in possession of the football could prove to be a major asset for us. Guedioura’s absence will leave a void on the right side of midfield which Lansbury could fill himself.

Alternatively, McGugan could move to the right with Lansbury playing in a more central role that he will perhaps be better suited too. Having not yet featured this season it is unlikely that Lansbury will start against Leeds at the weekend but hopefully he will be fit enough for a place on the substitute bench. Having a 20-30 minute run-out from the bench would be a good way to introduce him and hopefully it will be another three points for Forest like our last trip to Elland Road. Perhaps just not the same scoreline this time!
