Goals either scored or created by striker Dave Cockerill helped Teversal to a 3-0 win over mid-table rivals Brigg Town in the First Division of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League.

And it put them in just the right frame of mind for their big cup semi away to Carlton Town, who play two levels above them on the non-league ladder in Division One South of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

The Tevie Boys were ahead from the opening minute when Cockerill rolled the ball across the six-yard box for Josh Radford to bundle home, and although Brigg battled back in an even contest, the lead was doubled in the 68th minute. Khyle Sargent was pulled back by Nathan Peat for a penalty that Cockerill fired home, sending ‘keeper Dan Waring the wrong way.

From then on, the hosts, inspired by man-of-the-match Brett Watson, took control. Brad Newby and Kurtis Bamford went close before the points were sealed in the last minute when a free-kick to the far post by Mark Camm found the timely run of Cockerill, who headed home from close range.
