Teversal extend unbeaten run with Dinnington Town win

In the end they would have been disappointed with a 2-0 loss in game that was absolutely awful.

Credit must go to Dinnington who started brightly and after only 90 seconds Fairweather held off Henshaw to create an opportunity from a tight angle that the striker tried to curl into the far post with it going high and wide of the mark.

Teversal were slow getting started, finding it hard to play their quick passing game on the heavy pitch.

So with the visitors starting well the home side were happy to take an early lead when Pilmore’s cross fell behind Dave Cockerill who did well to get the ball going towards goal and find his strike partner Ollie Wood who fired past the stranded Jepson to make it 1-0 after five minutes.

Teversal took charged and had their best spell of the game, but for Dinnington things went from bad to worse when they lost Danny Hoyland after only 15 minutes, ironically Hoyland started after an injury ruled out Bytheway during the warm up.

With Teversal now flowing it was no surprise when they doubled their lead when Dinnington failed t clear their lines from a Teversal corner and Kris Witcombe delivered a far post to find the unmarked Swales who calmly finished on 32 minutes.

It looked like the home side was going to dominate but progressively the level of the performance dipped and Dinnington started to have their share of the play again.

On 39 minutes they was denied halving the deficit from a John Roper superbly executed free kick from 20 yards that saw Brooks get across his line to go full length and parry to safety.

The second half saw the game from bad to worse with both sides creating a few exception moments, but not enough to turn the 45 minutes from seeming like the longest day.

Teversal again had to thank Brooks for another full length dive to deny Langley’s 20 yard strike on 54 minutes. Add two other opportunities the visitors created by doing well down the flanks before whipping in excellent crosses that on both occasions saw Cartledge was only inches off from converting them into goals.

Dinnington were reduced to 10 men when John Roper continued to argue his case after receiving a yellow card along with Teversal’s Will Dennis, therefore the Referee was left with no option but to show a second yellow followed by the red card on the hour mark.

Teversal did create some excellent chances of their own, a patient build did saw Orton with the time to find Dave Cockerill whose effort was weakly struck and Jepson made a routine save.

The striker them was gifted another opportunity when Dennis had an excellent run down the right flank before pulling back to the penalty after an excellent step over by Orton, but the effort was fired fiercely high over the bar.

In the dying minutes the home side created one more chance when Dave Cockerill spread a superb cross-field ball Orton who took the ball in his stride before cutting in to fire an effort that saw Jepson make an equally stunning save.

For Teversal, it was simply a game they can be happy to take the points and extending their League unbeaten run to seven games, but this game will go to the bottom of the pile of entertaining games at Carnarvon Street.

Teversal’s next outing is a trip to Bradford to face Eccleshill United on Saturday 19th January 2013 for a Baris Northern Counties East League Division One game, kick off is 3pm.
