In a fixture which always means a lot to supporters, Chesterfield will be hoping to embrace derby day at Mansfield Town.

Aside from the bragging rights, both clubs could do with three points but for very different reasons on Saturday.

The Spireites will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s loss at Plymouth to reignite their title credentials.

Whereas the Stags sit five points above second from bottom Northampton Town prior to the early kick-off at Field Mill.

Add into the mix the fact the two sides have met twice before this season, with the scores level at one apiece so far.

The memories of Calvin Andrew’s winner in the reverse fixture at the Proact remain fresh in a fiercely competed derby.

Spireites redeemed themselves just over a week later in the JPT but wouldn’t want their Notts neighbours completing a league double.

Chesterfield will have to do it without Drew Talbot (abductor) and Dan Gardner (ankle) but Tommy Lee (strain) looks certain to continue in goal.

Mansfield will be without the suspended Darryl Westlake, but expect to welcome back Ritchie Sutton from injury and top scorer Sam Clucas from illness.

Spireites boss Paul Cook said: “It’s not a case of a local derby match, it’s not a case of three points, it’s not a case about promotion - it’s about the lot. It’s a big game for Mansfield. It’s a big game for us. It’s one we’re looking forward to.”

Stags boss Paul Cox added: “It is always fine lines in derby games and I am sure it will be the usual tight-knit affair.”
