For the second season running Exeter ran up a lead at Field Mill but saw it wiped out by a resurgent performance from the hosts.

Alan Beer put Exeter in front on 19 minutes but Kevin Griffin levelled matters less than a minute into his debut.

Beer struck again on 56 minutes for City as they regained the lead.

John Lathan then restored parity within two minutes.

Then there was to be even more drama when Kevin Bird headed home what proved to be the winner in the fourth minute of added time for a dramatic victory for the Stags.

Exeter protests were batted away by the referee, as Town remained top of the Fourth Division.
