Stags’ star striker has spent the last four games on the bench after going off the boil, largely due to speculation over a move away from the club during the transfer window.

Some fans were critical of boss Adam Murray’s decision to leave him out.

Green has responded with a winning goal just three minutes after coming on Port Vale in midweek last week and two goals against Notts County last weekend, the first just 23 seconds after coming on and the second an ice cool stoppage time penalty to win the game.

But Pat Hoban, who replaced Green in the side has been outstanding, and if the frustration of being on the bench is forcing Green into such heroics when he comes on, should Murray continue to profit from that a while longer?

Vastly experienced target man Darius Henderson is now also back to fitness and scored a great goal to crown the win on Saturday.
