He then returned to action in March and made a total of 14 first team appearances in the 2016/17 season.

The former Leicester City man was handed a new deal in May, but has found first team opportunities limited in the current campaign, making his first appearance in Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy defeat to Lincoln City.

Taft is ineligible to play against the Stags in their Sky Bet League Two fixtures against the U’s at One Call Stadium on Saturday 23 September or at the Abbey Stadium on Saturday 16 January.

Furthermore, the former Burton Albion man cannot play against the Stags should the two clubs meet in this season’s Emirates FA Cup.
