Stags defender joins Stevenage on free transfer
The 27-year-old made 18 League appearances for the Stags last season after signing from Chester City. “Johnny is a great professional and a fantastic kid,” said manager David Flitcroft.
“He asked me if I could guarantee him first team football, which I couldn’t, so he’s taken the opportunity offered at Stevenage. “Mal Benning is the first choice left back at the football club and is the type of player I want to work with. I see so much potential in Mal. “We have young Henri Wilder coming though the system who has impressed and Johnny’s position in the squad may have stopped the progression of a good youth team player coming through.”
