Stags decide to send U21s to face Hednesford tonight

Manager Adam Murray has elected to send an U21s side for tonight's final pre-season friendly against Hednesford Town (7.45pm kick-off).

The game was originally scheduled as a first team fixture, but Murray said last week that, with only five days to go before the big kick-off at Newport County, he would not take any risks with this game and has now decided to play predominantly U21s players.

Murray was delighted to see left back Mal Benning come through Saturday’s friendly at Worksop after a summer knock and now, apart from Jack Thomas, who is still suffering with tendonitis, Murray believes his players all have the requisite amount of minutes under their belts to start the new season.
