STAGS ON THIS DAY: Stewart Hadley sparkles on Mansfield Town debut in 1994

On this day 22 years ago Mansfield Town ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against Wycombe - with debutant Stewart Hadley stealing the plaudits.

Hadley notched the Stags’ second just days after his switch from Derby County.

Town boss Andy King had said in the build-up to the match that Hadley was “one for the future” and that his development would not be rushed.

However, Hadley made the most of his unexpected start, scoring one and making one.

His first for Town came on the hour mark as he rolled the ball home with confidence.

That came after Mansfield had led 1-0 through Wayne Fairclough on 27 minutes.

Wycombe rarely troubled the Stags’ backline and once Hadley had hit the second the shackes were off.

Steve Wilkinson grabbed the third soon after as the Stags eased to victory.
