SLIDESHOW: Shirebrook lose bad-tempered game to Hull

There were three changes from the previous week with Connor Griffin, Ryan Johnson and Josh Gibson coming into the side.

The game started very evenly with both sides struggling to get any opportunities but it was Hull who got the first big chance of the game as Dean was there to make the save.

Most of the Shirebrook attacks were stopped by Hull wanting to kick every Shirebrook player in sight and with the ref not wanting to brandish yellow cards he was starting to lose control of the game.

Hull were putting in a number of bad tackles and leading into tackles with an elbow. The half finished with Shirebrook on top but they couldn’t find the goal.

The second-half started with Shirebrook in control and they dominated the first 15 minutes of the half but again couldn’t get the goal with Currie going the closest but in the 64th minute Hull took the lead through Gary Bradshaw. However, the goal shouldn’t have stood as the officials missed a blatant handball in the build up.

Things got even worse for Shirebrook in the 72nd minute when Bradshaw broke through on goal and was brought down by Fox and the ref was left with no option but to point to the penalty spot and give Fox his marching orders.

Bradshaw the took the penalty and sent Dean the wrong way to double Hull’s advantage.

Things got worse still for Shirebrook in the 80th minute when after making their third substitution they lost Currie to injury after he was in the middle of a challenge between keeper and defender so Shirebrook had to finish the game with nine men, although Hull also ended the game a man down when one of their players was also given his marching orders for a two-footed tackle on Greenfield.

Shirebrook are back in action next Saturday when Selby visit Langwith Road.
