It was the perfect tribute to Mick Clarey who passed away after eight years as a volunteer at the club.

A minutes silence was held before the game and the club have also renamed the main stand “The Mick Clarey Stand”.

The game got off to a fast start with both teams testing the keepers early.

Kieran Wells forced the St Andrews’ keeper into two good saves within the opening 20 minutes.

Dale Sheppard got the nod after a successful return to first team action last week against Rainworth and proved his worth after denying the away side the lead twice in the first half.

It took 38 minutes for Sherwood to break the tie courtesy of a well struck low driven shot from Liam Theakstone.

Theakstone slotted his second goal home following a one-on-one with the keeper.

Liam Hearn wrapped the win up with a tap-in after sub Tim Gregory saw a shot parried.
