Selston close gap at top of Precision NSL Senior Division

Selston closed the gap to Cotgrave at the top of the Precision NSL Senior Division to one point with a 4-0 win away at Ruddington Village.

It was stalemate until half-time, but within four minutes of the restart Ruddington gifted the visitors the lead by putting through their own net.

It seemed like Village would be thrown a lifeline when Selston were reduced to ten men after 56 minutes, as Phil Bignall received his marching orders not long after coming on as a substitute.

It was not to be Ruddington’s day, though, as Dominic Airey doubled Selston’s lead after with just over 10 minutes to go, then two goals in injury-time from Jamie Renshaw and Joe Riley put the gloss on the win.

Wollaton are level on points with Selston, but have two games in hand, as they defeated Attenborough 2-0 with goals from Lee Day and Marcus Johnson.

It wasn’t a good day for the NSL Senior Division sides in the Nottinghamshire FA Intermediate Cup with Awsworth Villa suffering a 2-0 defeat to Underwood Villa, from NSL Division One, despite the game being switched to The Shilo.

Watnall Athletic swapped places with Kimberley Miners Welfare AFC at the top of Division Two after the two sides met at Digby Street. Joe Brookes got the solitary goal in Watnall’s 1-0 win.
