Ryan Wilson ready to get started with Alfreton Town

After signing a two-year deal with Alfreton Town, Ryan Wilson says he is looking forward to enjoying his football again and being and happy, and both are things he thinks he can achieve with the Reds.

After spending a season up in the North East last season, Ryan, who lives in Oakwood, Derby, couldn’t wait to get back to an ambitious club on his door step and the Reds firmly fit the bill.

Wilson, 22, is manager Nicky Law’s first signing of the closed season and a former Ilkeston FC left back who went to Gateshead from the Robins for an undisclosed fee for the 2014/15 campaign.

It was a move which didn’t turn out for him in more ways than one and he is raring to go with the Reds.

“I went to Gateshead after a successful spell at Ilkeston, had a decent pre-season and started off well for Gary Mills, the then Gateshead boss. He seemed quite happy with me but after Grimsby smashed Gateshead 6-1 at home, I came off at half-time and said he wanted to change things.

“After that I never got much game time and for me it is a season best forgotten.

“Obviously living back in Derby again, seeing more of my family and friends again means it is going to be a lot easier for me now to be fair” said Ryan.

“Alfreton are a friendly club and I have been made to feel very welcome. I am really looking forward to getting back to playing and enjoying things again and trying to help Alfreton get back to the level they have just come from which is obviously one of the main aims.

“Everything now is about doing well with Alfreton and I can’t wait to get started” ended Ryan.
