Reading sign ex-Mansfield Town player ahead of League One clash with Stags
Reading have added a former Mansfield Town player to their roster ahead of their meeting with Stags on Wednesday.
The Royals have completed a move for Jamie Reid, who joins the Berkshire club after five years with Stevenage.
The striker has signed a two-year deal with Reading, who are currently 23rd in the League One table ahead of their clash with Mansfield Town this week.
Reid makes the move to Reading from Stevenage for an undisclosed transfer fee. His career started at Exeter City before several loan moves to Torquay United became permanent in 2017.

Mansfield Town signed Reid from Torquay in 2020, after he scored 18 goals in 32 league games during the prior season in the National League.
A year later, Stags sold Reid to Stevenage. The striker contributed six goals and three assists in League Two during his maiden campaign in amber and blue.
Since leaving Mansfield, Reid has faced his former side on eight occasions, scoring once. He will come up against Stags again this season, this time in new colours.
“Jamie is a proven goalscorer at this level and somebody who has consistently shown what he can bring to a team over a number of years,” Reading manager Leam Richardson said.
“He’s got a lot of experience and, importantly for us, he’s a really good character. He knows this division inside out, he understands what it takes to be successful and you can see he’s still got a real hunger to achieve more.”
Mansfield will travel to the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Wednesday for their fourth League One clash of the season. They enter the fixture following their stunning 5-2 display over Luton Town on Sunday.
As for the Royals, they are yet to get their first win on the board but have played a game fewer than those around them so far.
