The City Couriers Football Tournament has been suggested by Carlton Town manager Tommy Brookbanks as a way of boosting local football.

It is hoped the tournament, which would include fans being admitted, can take place in April or May and fill the void left by the cancellation of league football.

Rainworth assistant manager Richard Smith said: “We’d like to thank Tommy for coming up with the idea and plans and we’re happy to be one of the teams involved.

"We have to find a way of playing games and this competition gives us this option against 15 other excellent clubs. It will hopefully be an opportunity for our fans to watch local games again as we’ve missed seeing everyone.”

Teams will be seeded to determine two equally balanced leagues, with the final format to be decided based on how much time will be available for completion.

Admission for all games will be £5 Adults, £3 concessions and £1 for Children and the final and a proposed separate presentation hosted by the sponsors will take place at Carlton Town.
