“It is important to keep the momentum going. We obviously came here today and showed respect to the competition and that is important.

“In the second half they got a lift when they got a goal and you saw that on the pitch. They started to run forward more, they had a bit more energy. But we were able to get that killer second goal.”

Jordan Slew opened the scoring with a great solo breakaway effort.

“Slew has been excellent for us and he took the right back on very well and it was a great shot across the goal,” said Adams.

“He can give us that outlet with pace and he can score goals.”

On the winner 10 minutes from time, he added: “I said on the touchline we needed one of the midfield players to just get forward and have a shot at goal and David Fox was able to do that.

“It was a good strike low into the bottom corner.”
