Plymouth Argyle 'plotting' summer swoop for recently departed Mansfield Town star
Mansfield Town’s League One rivals Plymouth Argyle are considering a move for the recently departed Victor Adeboyejo.
Stags made the decision to part ways with three senior players following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season. The club confirmed that Dom Dwyer, Aaron Lewis and Adeboyejo would all be leaving the One Call Stadium this summer.
The trio are now free agents and able to enter discussions with other clubs to determine their next moves.
According to Football Insider, Plymouth Argyle are interested in signing Adeboyejo and are ‘plotting’ a move to bring him to Home Park ahead of the new League One season.

The Pilgrims have already made notable signings this transfer window, bringing in the likes of former Stevenage midfielder Harvey White, along with goalkeeper James Storer from Wolves.
Adeboyejo is reportedly also attracting attention from Scottish Premiership side Dundee United. This will put the pressure on Plymouth if they are serious about signing the 28-year-old striker this window. Argyle have been named among the early favourites to challenge for promotion next season.
Adeboyejo signed for Mansfield Town during this year’s January window from Bolton Wanderers, on a deal running until the end of the season. In 14 appearances, the forward provided one goal and one assist in League One. His first goal in amber and blue came during Stags’ 1-1 draw against Bradford back in March.
Prior to his move to the One Call Stadium, the Nigerian striker played for the likes of Bolton, Burton Albion and Barnsley.
Since the departure of Adeboyejo, Dwyer and Lewis, Mansfield Town have signed new centre-forward David McGoldrick. The 38-year-old striker is the latest addition to Nigel Clough’s squad, joining Jon Russell, who penned a permanent deal with Stags following his loan stint last season.
Recent reports have also suggested Mansfield have ‘held initial talks’ over a potential deal for Preston North End forward Michael Smith.
