They were boosted by the return of captain Pete Stubley and Darren Bettison to the starting eleven in place of Tom Ellis and Danny O’Donnell.

And it didn’t take long for the deadlock to be broken when, on seven minutes, ex-Blidworth front man Stubley was fouled in the penalty area. The referee didn’t hesitate in pointing to the spot. Jake Vernon stepped up and smashed the ball to the keeper’s right for the opening goal.

Vernon got his second from a tight angle before Blidworth responded through Liam Theakstone from close range.

Stubley then got the goal he craved for Pinxton when he was perfectly placed at the back post to tuck in an inviting corner from the left.

Max Curzon reduced the arrears just before the break. Adcock and Vernon combined before the latter was tripped after rounding the Blidworth keeper. He stepped up and completed his hat-trick from the spot.

Substitute Ellis had a hand in number five when he drilled the ball across goal for Vernon to add another. Vernon then turned provider for Kurtis Bamford for number six for Pinxton.
