The Posh have reportedly agreed a deal with a left-sided centre-back currently out of contract at a League Two club and 24 year-old Tafazolli fits that bill.

Tafazolli, who has has made 118 appearances and scored eight goals for the Stags, walked away with all the player of the season awards at the start of this month.

The mystery player is expected to sign for Posh when he returns from holiday.

Stags boss Adam Murray has tried hard to keep the player at One Call Stadium and Tafazolli has been offered ‘a very good deal’ to stay by chairman John Radford.

Ex-Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson, now at League Two rivals Doncaster Rovers, was reported to have been looking at Tafazolli in the final game of last season, but instead swooped this week for Stags winger Matty Blair.
