Peterborough dispute Mansfield Town's version of alleged Rose transfer

He claims the player was offered to ex-Stags boss Steve Evans last week via a private conversation between Stags chairman John Radford and Posh director of football Barry Fry.

Yesterday, the Stags said that, to be transparent, they wanted to inform fans that several clubs had made bids for strikers Rose and Lee Angol but none had reached their market valuation as yet, though were expected to eventually.

However, last night Posh owner McAnthony took to Twitter to accuse Stags of initially offering Rose to them in private and then making the details public.

Their version of events are very different to those of the Stags with Radford publicly claiming to fans he did not want to lose Rose or Angol.

McAnthony said on his Tweets: “So regards D. Rose thing. Owner of Mansfield called BF last Thursday to say the lad was surplus to requirements and would SE like to sign him. We asked manager and he said yes so we made a fair bid for player discreetly. Next thing it’s out publicly we had 300k bid turned down. And.

“We didn’t bid £300k for player but as usual I feel we being used to get interest elsewhere in player. All very odd and quite frankly exhausting. Happy to do business with any club sensibly. On we go & no biggie. That’s the truth as I have no reason to say otherwise.”

Chad understands Mansfield Town will comment on these allegations later today.
