Passmoor says Notts County must learn from FA Women’s Cup exit to Everton

The Lady Pies were eliminated after a brace by Nikita Parris secured a 2-1 win for Everton and a place in next month’s final against Arsenal.

Passmoor was particularly frustrated by his side’s poor first half showing at Alfreton Town’s Impact Arena, which left them trailing 2-0 at the break.

Katie Hoyle pulled a goal back on 56 minutes to give improved County a lifeline, but it was too little too late as solid Everton stood firm at the back to confirm the win.

Speaking after the game Passmoor said: “I am disappointed with our performance today. We did not turn up in the first 45 minutes and you cannot do that against a team like Everton.

“There were too many heavy legs and too many players that were anxious and not at their best.

“I asked for a response at half-time and that is what I got. We were better in the second half, but the players need to realise that you have to play for 90 minutes and not 45 minutes.

“We have to dust ourselves down, to learn from this experience and to be better. We were 90 minutes away from representing this club in an FA Cup final and not making that happen is very disappointing

“We have a board that really work hard to make sure that Notts County can succeed. Today shows that we are progressing but we are not quite there just yet.

“Congratulations to Everton, they deserved their win today.”

Notts travel to Oxford on Thursday night before they entertain Liverpool in the WSL at Meadow Lane on Sunday.
