OPINION: It’s difficult to see where the points are coming from for Derby County

Manager Gary Rowett tinkered with formations and tried something different on Saturday with three centre backs and wing backs.

Just as it has been lately, we were again very poor and never looking like scoring against a Middlesbrough team we dispatched 3-0 when on our travels.

The main difference in the two sides was Traore, who the Rams defence failed miserably to stop.

He ran the show and when he had two men on him he still found a way past!

Middlesbrough, Traore apart didn’t look anything special, but Derby were dreadful again! Lacking any kind of cutting edge and seeing the hopes of a play-off spot slowly evaporating before their very eyes!

We have a visit from Neil Warnock’s cardiff on Tuesday night and on this evidence we could be in for a very long night indeed.

Five points are needed realistically for a top six finish, but its difficult to see where they are going to come from.

Matej Vydra hasn’t been at the races in the last few games and theres very little else to offer up front!

After the game on Saturday the frustration was showing on the fans as they left. Many shouting Rowett out! as BBC East Midlands attempted to interview fans departing Pride Park.

Calling for the managers head is a bit premature in my opinion! We want rid of that revolving door in the managers office and give Gary Rowett the chance to turn things around.

He has gone through a bad spell and the football hasn’t been pretty either, but we need to let him have a real go of it before even considering a change! He deserves another season and provided we are making progress he should keep his job!

I predicted us to finish tenth pre-season and we have already surpassed my expectations. Of course expectations rise when a team goes on a good run, but lets remind ourselves of that good run and acknowledge the fact that we can do it! At the point in time, the players, management team and the fans need to stay on board and play their part during these final three games.

I’m sure Colin, sorry Mr Warnock will get a warm reception on Tuesday! Let’s send him back to Cardiff with a real bite to chew on!
