Despite a strike by Sam Foulds, Ollerton were hammered 4-1 after extra-time in the Senior Cup by Eastwood Community, who play on the same level of the non-league ladder.

But they continued their improved from in Division One of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League by clipping the wings of promotion-pushing Campion, beating the Bradford visitors 3-0.

For much of the action, the game had 0-0 written all over it. But finally, the deadlock was broken in the 79th minute when a long kick by goalkeeper Levi Owen beat the Campion defence, and Lewis Bingham ran on to it before thumping home on the half-volley.

Three minutes later, Campion could have levelled but for a fine save by Owen, who tipped over an effort by Aidan Day from the edge of the area.

Instead, Ollerton doubled their lead when a long ball by George Slack caught out goalkeeper Declan Lampton, who had to back-track into his area and parry the ball off his own line. It dropped back into the area, where top scorer Ben Partridge reacted quickest to stab home at the second attempt after his initial effort had been turned against a post.

Back came Campion for another missed opportunity, but Ollerton sealed their win with a third goal at the death – and what a goal it was! Lively substitute Callum Littlejohn picked the ball up midway inside the visiting half and advanced before being brought down for a free-kick 20 yards out that Lewis Murr bent around the defensive wall and left ‘keeper Lampton rooted to the spot.

In the opening half, the two sides had cancelled each other out, with fans having to wait until injury-time for the best chance as Lampton parried a goalbound effort from Sean Dickinson after good work by Aaron Sennett-Neilson.

Campion opened the second half by appealing for a penalty, but the referee waved away their appeals and also booked striker Aidan Kirby for diving after he had gone down under a challenge from Brandon Shaw.

They should have gone in front, though, just after the hour when a long kick by the ‘keeper found Jason Carney. His cross from the right ended up at the feet of Kirby, but his effort was blocked by Slack in a tremendous piece of defending.

Next came saves at both ends before Ollerton’s grandstand finish, which lifted them to 16th in the 20-team table and set them up nicely for this Saturday's trip to leaders Winterton Rangers.
