Oliver Irow to reunite with former Mansfield Town teammate Will Evans at Plymouth Argyle

Former Mansfield Town loanee Oliver Irow has signed for Plymouth Argyle on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old product of the Tottenham Hotspur Academy will return to League One after his spell with Mansfield Town last season.

Irow joined Stags during the January transfer window to mark his first move away from his boyhood club. He made an immediate impact in amber and blue when he scored a brace on his debut in a 3-0 win over Port Vale.

The forward went on to score a further two goals against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City throughout the season before his time with Stags came to an end.

Now, Irow prepares for another run in League One and more first team football experience, but this time with Plymouth Argyle. The 20-year-old will link-up with former Mansfield Town teammate Will Evans on the south coast, who signed a permanent deal with the Pilgrims earlier this month.

Evans left Stags in pursuit of a new challenge in his career and is already off the mark for his new side, having scored against Wycombe in their latest league fixture. Plymouth manager Tom Cleverley was eager to bring the Welshman in and the club paid an undisclosed fee for his services, which some reports claim was £400,000.

Both Irow and Evans scored in Stags’ 3-0 win over Port Vale last season and they will be looking to link-up again, this time at their new club.

“Oliver had a productive spell at Mansfield last season, and comes to us for a second loan, in which we think we can develop his game ever further. He has a willingness to learn, and his quality and versatility should make him a really good signing for us,” Argyle’s Director of Football Derek Adams told club media.
