Old Elizabethans reach county final

Old Elizabethans will represent the Midland Amateur Alliance in the Notts FA Intermediate Cup Final against either Awsworth Villa or Thoresby Colliery Welfare after they edged out AFC West Bridgford by the odd goal in five in the semi-final last weekend.

Jonathon Robotham was the hat-trick hero for OEs, who broke the deadlock after a goalless first half, then built up a 3-1 lead, which was pulled back to 3-2, leaving them to close out an exciting tie.

In the MAA Intermediate Cup first round tie between Premier Division outfit Radcliffe Olympic III and Division One’s Ashfield FC, status just won out when goals from Sam Adam and Dan Ford earned a 2-1 victory for Olympic.

Following last week’s defeat on penalties in the Senior Cup to Rainworth Rangers, Bassingfield completed a league double over their cup conquerors with a 3-2 victory.

Leading 1-0 at half-time, Rangers were hit by a Karl Aram hat-trick, which was answered by goals from Khyle Sargent and Jason Sheppard.

Mansfield Hosiery Mills built up a 3-1 half-time lead against Bestwood MWSC, who hit back to produce an eventual 3-3 draw.

Goals from Jack Tucker, Nathan Bettison and Stefan Lewis for Mills were answered by Jay Coupe, Ross King and Ricky Hodgson for Bestwood.

Beeston AFC II were 4-1 victors at the expense of Beeston OBA, who conceded a double to Alex Ford and goals from Felix Schulz and Matt Steed with Robert Goliah netting their consolation goal.

Unfit pitches put paid to the Division One programme and the Division Two match to survive saw Derbyshire Amateurs netting eight without reply from Ashfield II, who were hit by hat-tricks from Brad Scard and Matt Alfred. An Elliot Perry strike, allied to an own goal, made up the tally.
