Notts County development reserves progress to League Cup final

Hucknall-based Notts County development reserve squad fought back to defeat Wollaton 4-2 and secure their place in the League cup final.

Despite a poor first 10 minutes County held strong and went close a couple of times.

A scrappy attack led to Wollaton taking the lead inside the near post.

Before the half ended Sammie Barlow powered in a left foot shot that hit two players, and spilled through the keeper’s hands and the post before going in the net.

The second half was all to play for and that’s what Notts did.

Playing great passing football and using skill and pace they stepped it up a gear.

Barlow sent in a great cross after a one two with Ashleigh Harris and Cath Eyley finished at the near post.

Minutes later Carolanne Young took a neat pass from Barlow, steadied with a great first touch and slammed it home.

Barlow then scored her second as County took a firm grip on the game.

Wollaton never gave up and got one back before Notts saw out a huge win.

They now meet Clifton in the Notts Girls and Ladies football league final.
