Speaking of his new role Mr Ablitt said: “To be asked to join the Board of Directors at the club that you have supported all of your life is probably the dream of every football fan and I am delighted to be in a position to accept that invitation.

“To be able to contribute to the running of Notts County and to hopefully help move the club forwards is all I have ever wanted really, since watching games as a child and then being able to support the club commercially, this is the next step for me and one that I am looking forward to taking.”

Notts County Chairman Ray Trew added: “We are delighted to welcome Mark on to the Board of Directors here at Meadow Lane. As a successful businessman in his own right and, perhaps equally importantly, as a fan of the club, he has everything we could ask for in a Director.

“Mark’s commitment to the club is unquestionable and to have added his drive and enthusiasm, coupled with his financial backing obviously, is a fantastic step forwards for Notts County Football Club.”
