The win was the first time Forest had scored seven goals in 30 years and gave the club their biggest ever Premier League win.
It also saw Chris Wood score his 17th goal of the season – his best ever total in the top flight – with a fine hat-trick.
Wood also became the Forest player to score a top-flight hat-trick at the City Ground since Nigel Clough against QPR in December 1987
So, as you would expect, there’s some impressive scores here in match reporter Stephen Thirkill’s player ratings. (Subs after 80 minutes are not rated). Take a look and see if you agree.

9. Anthony Elanga - 9
Three superb assists on a day to remember for the wide man. Textbook corner to set up the second goal, perfect cross for the third, and a bursting run followed by pin-point cross for the fourth goal. Found plenty of space and looked dangerous throughout. Photo: Getty Images

10. Morgan Gibbs-White - 9
Excellent display from start to finish and caused Brighton all sorts of bother. Lovely pass to bring about the own goal and get Forest up and running before getting in on the act himself with a brilliant header. Photo: Getty Images

11. Chris Wood - 10
Wood became the Forest player to score a top-flight hat-trick at the City Ground since Nigel Clough against QPR in December 1987. He showed exactly why he is one of the league's best strikers with his brilliant poacher's instinct. Right place at the right time for his first two goals and kept his nerve expertly from the spot. 12. Nicolas Dominguez - 7
Slotted in well after replacing Danilo on 65 minutes. He was busy after coming well and pressed well to help keep Forest ticking. Photo: Getty Images
