NOTTINGHAM FOREST: Striker says tide will soon turn

Blackstock, 29, has started just four games in what has been a frustrating campaign for the Reds so far.

And he says he is determined to put in the hard yards - even if that continues to be off the bench as an impact substitute.

“It is frustrating not playing. But it is not like I’m a magic solution,” said Blackstock.

“It is not a case of me saying ‘we have not been scoring goals so put me on the pitch and I will score loads’.”

“It is a team thing. We have capable strikers and, if we can get them the right service, then we will score more goals.

“For me, personally, I want to play as much as possible. But I am sure my time will come.

“And coming off the bench can be just as important as starting games, if you can come on and make an impact at a certain time.

“It is not just about me because I alone am not going to get us out of this position. It is about the team.

“You do go through periods as a player and as a team where you do not score as many goals as you would like.

“You just have to stick to what allowed you to play at this level in the past; you have to remember what got you to where you are and back yourself.

“It is a long season and I am sure that I will get my chance at some point.

“If I am called upon to have an impact off the bench, I will look to do that.

“If the manager wants me to start, I am ready for that as well.”
