Nottingham Forest: Chris Cohen just happy to be back playing

Nottingham Forest's Chris Cohen has said he is just happy to be on the pitch after suffering a number of injuries.

The 29-year-old said he believes his best positions are in defensive midfield and at full-back but he’s got no issue being asked to play on the right side of midfield.

“I was back on the right wing again (at Fulham), but I don’t mind, because I just enjoy playing football,” he said. “The physio staff worked out that I have missed three of the last five years through injury and, when you look at it like that, I am just happy to be back playing.

“I enjoy my football, it is fantastic. But I want to be part of a successful side, that is the most important thing.”

He added: “I am not about to tell anyone that I am not going to play unless it is in one of those positions. I would rather go out there and play where I am asked to play and do everything I can to make sure I do a good job.”

Cohen admits he is not perhaps as exciting a player as Ryan Mendes or Oliver Burke, who would also push for that role on the right. But he hopes he has something to offer there.

“I had a couple of very successful seasons playing in that role as well. I give the side something different to what Ryan or Oli Burke might offer,” he said. “They are more exciting, perhaps. But maybe it can work out for the best for the team sometimes and it felt that way at Fulham.

“Just being out there playing is the main thing for me, because there was a time when you wondered whether that would happen.”
