NOTTINGHAM FOREST BLOG: Let’s stick together and back Stuart Pearce, says Glyn Brownley

I remember Stuart Pearce best for his passion and love of the red shirt of Nottingham Forest.

He gave everything for the team and fans of this medium-sized, but historic club.

I saw a recent post on Twitter which rang so true in the Stuart Pearce loyalty stakes, and I quote: “Roy Keane and young Nigel (Clough) left when we were in the mire.Stuart Pearce stayed behind.”

And that’s the measure of the man.

Since the euphoria of the 5-3 win over Fulham in mid-September, the Red train has certainly stopped for repairs.

Injuries have once again cursed the Reds with the loss of Reid, Hobbs and our captain and talisman Chris Cohen, which in turn has encouraged our dramatic loss of form.

After all, most of our creativity comes from Andy Reid so it’s not hard to see why the goals have dried up.

But on the plus side, Assombalonga and Antonio had scored nine already this season before yesterday’s encounter with the newly relegated Norwich City.

After Wednesday night’s defeat to the in-form Brentford, Psycho reverted back to playing his £8m pound striker - who to be fair has been in my opinion a very good buy, when you look at some of our previous purchases in the goalscoring market.

If not to make the pressure on Stuart Pearce even more intense, our close rivals Derby County humbled the Wolves 5-0 in the early kick off - which made me shudder as I remember feeling last season what the poor Wolves fans must have been experiencing after yesterday’s game.

People say you should ignore the other teams around and concentrate on your own form - well it’s hard not to look down the A52 and be impressed by the team spirit showing from the IPro Stadium, something which seemed to have been missing over our last few games.

So the Canaries came to Trentside and true to their famous export they started like mustard, and with their first attack took the lead - which was in true Forest tradition just lately as we seem to shoot ourselves in the foot creating our own downfall.

Would it all go wrong yet again?

NO STOP!! Something happened yesterday? Hopefully a turning point and this really poor run of form has ended.

Not only did we equalise in the 85th minute with Assombalonga tapping home a lovely Fryatt cross, but then in the 93rd minute Dave (Assombalonga) played a sublime ball to the marvellous Antonio to score what must have made our Stuart as happy has the goal he scored from the spot in Euro 96.

Well, if it didn’t make him that happy it sure did the City Ground faithful.

The scenes around the famous stadium were pandemonium - as if we had won the European Cup!

The Psycho salute by all sides of the City Ground showed that this man not only has the fans’ support he has their love.

Social networks in Nottingham and surrounding areas must have breathed a sigh of relief and also saved our (owner) Fawaz from a an element intent on barraging him with calls for a new manager called Tony Pullis - a well known man who is in the (Sam) Allardyce mould.

No thank you. let’s stick together.

Psycho loves this club just like us. #NFFC
