Northampton manager fuming after his Cobblers let him down against Mansfield

Northampton Town manager Dean Austin was left fuming after seeing his side comprehensively dismantled in today's 4-0 defeat at Mansfield Town.

The Cobblers have only won one of their first 10 games and Austin raged: “I feel emotional and I feel let down today. I am angry.

“I can only apologise to the our faithful for what we served up today.

“It started off quite bright for five minutes, then we gave away a stupid goal from our own set piece and then you are chasing the game.”

Austin vowed to make big changes for their next game on Tuesday night and accused some of his players of thinking they are better than they are.

He said: “The concern is we were playing well in the early part of the season and creating chances without scoring. Now we are not even playing well or creating chances.”

“I won’t stand for that and the boys know there will be big changes on Tuesday.

“At the moment we are just far too easy to play against. I will stick up for them all day long when they are having a go but I can’t defend that today.

“This team was not good enough in League One - fact. Now I am looking at and thinking they haven’t got the balls to go and play in League Two.

“Maybe some people think they are better than they really are. We have got to start producing.”
