Wrens make their point at form team

In an even contest, Barton went closest to scoring but both attacks were shut out by strong defensive displays.

In the 19th minute Richard Adams cleared the danger when he blocked Ethan Nelson’s effort at the expense of a corner.

A couple of minutes later Rainworth had their first attempt on goal, but Kyle Jordan’s free-kick was easily gathered by keeper Sam Riches.

Tennant struck the bar again before half-time.

The first chance in the second-half fell to Rainworth when Charlie Dawse’s goal-bound shot was deflected for a corner.

Eddie Rogerson had a half-chance for Barton, but his effort was always rising, and went over without troubling Andy Francis.

Barton had a couple of chances to snatch all three points in the final couple of minutes, but Rob Ludlam deflected Will Waudby’s effort over.

From the corner Francis saved well at the feet of Billy Law to preserve a point for the Wrens.
