Clipstone FC boss Micky Taylor was delighted with the way his players came through their second pre-season friendly of the summer on Saturday.
The Cobras registered a 1-0 win over Harworth thanks to a goal from the captain, Jason Gregory, which was all that was needed to separate the two sides.
Taylor said: “It was really tough. Harworth are a well organised side. They won their league last year and stepped up a level.
“I knew it was going to be hard and the ground is like concrete. But we looked well organised and didn’t look like conceding, which we haven’t in the two games we’ve played.
“I’m delighted with the way the players have gone. Everything’s worked a treat so far. Everyone at the club is loving it and that’s all that matters to me.”
Taylor has been pleased with the club’s recruitment ahead of the 2018/19 season.
“I’ve got the squad I want,” he said. “If a player gets in contact and wants to improve us then I’ll always get him.
“All this season is about for me is stablising and I think I’m doing that with the squad I’ve got.
“I’ve got young and experienced lads. One massive thing we’ve got is the banter between the lads - it’s fantastic.”
