ALFRETON Town are facing a big Blue Square Bet Premier Division six-pointer when Hayes & Yeading United visit the Impact Arena this Saturday.
Both sides are in the relegation zone with the Reds second from bottom and Hayes occupying fourth from bottom place.
Reds manager Nicky Law will be looking for his side to kick-on from last weekend’s best performance of the season when they were desperately unlucky not to record victory in a 1-1 home draw with high-flying Gateshead.
Alfreton will be looking for a first win on home soil in six games having drawn three and lost the other two in the last five.
The Reds desperately need a second home win of the season which would close the gap on the clubs immediately above them. And a win would also go some way to atoning for an opening day 3-1 away defeat against this Saturday’s visitors.
Manager Law has son Josh fit again and is expecting central defender Leigh Franks to have shaken off the effects of being knocked out during last Saturday’s home game.
Law could also hand a debut to left-sided midfield man Rob Eagle who joined the club on loan on Wednesday from Grimsby Town, but he is still without injured duo Matt Wilson and Adie Hawes.
Hayes & Yeading United arrive looking for a first win in six league games but they will be aware that they can seriously help their survival hopes with victory in Derbyshire and another one at home to third from bottom Newport County next Tuesday.
Hayes have won just once on the road in the league this season, a 5-3 success at Kettering Town nearly two months ago.
They have picked up three draws, achieving a 1-1 scoreline at both Darlington and AFC Telford United and 3-3 at Stockport in their last away outing on November 5th.
Defeats have been tasted at Newport County (4-0), Fleetwood Town (0-1), Cambridge United (1-2), Grimsby Town (0-3), Barrow (3-1) and Tamworth (2-1).
In their last game, Hayes & Yeading United were beaten 3-1 at home by Kidderminster Harriers last Saturday.
