New Clipstone manager Mick Taylor secured the services of seven players for the new season over two days.

They are midfielder Brad Cox, defender Jason Gregory, goalscorer Julian Topliss, midfielder Danny Naylor, striker Danny Fletcher, keeper Gavin Saxby and forward Dean Rick.

Gregory, a former Teversal and Mansfield Town player, will be captain.

Taylor said: “He’s hungry and has a considerable number of games under his belt at a good level. We are delighted to add him to our squad and we are proud to have him leading the club.

“He has something a little different and I’m confident that his best years are ahead of him.”

Taylor, who has made signing strikers a priority, said former Teversal man Fletcher was one of the best in step six at the moment and former Sherwood Colliery and Shirebrook Town man Topliss could be one of the league’s top scorers.

Taylor said Rick, who was with him at AFC Mansfield, offered power.

Keeper Saxby had a short stint at Clipstone in 2017 and will also be involved in the coaching.
