The battle for the title in the Black Dragon Badges North division will go right to the wire tomorrow night as Bilsthorpe and Westella VIP yet again added three points in their penultimate matches.
Bilsthorpe took their goal tally to an eye-watering 25 in five days without reply as they completely swamped Phoenix 13-0 at Brinsworth.
After scoring five against Clay Cross on Monday and another seven to beat Thoresby on Wednesday, Bilsthorpe went ahead with a third minute penalty, and never looked back, their list of scorers featuring Triston Burrell who scored a hat-trick, Liam Black, Jammy Meehan and Mark Carter who all scored twice, Keenan Leeds, Cliff Clarke and Gav King, with Phoenix contributing an own goal.
With one game left, Bilsthorpe lead Westella by two points, after the East Yorkshire side kept up their impressive run of results with a 5-0 defeat of Easington United.
Alex Wood and Tom Dent put their side two up at half time, Wood, Chris Spinks and Andy Coverdale completing the scoring in the second half. In contrast, a single goal separated Glapwell and Harworth Colliery at Hall Corner. It came from the evergreen Neil Grayson in the 14th minute for Glapwell, though both sides created plenty of opportunities to add to the total.
Thorne Colliery have certainly ended the season in style, their eighth win in nine outings coming at the expense of Sherwood Colliery who went down 5-0.
Thorne’s goals came from Ross Ebbage with two, Nicholas Allen, Kyle Palmer and Jonathan Lugton. Askern put the final nail in Welbeck’s season, their 7-0 win including goals from Joe Byron and Jason Kearsley, who got two apiece, Jordan McCabe, Alex Rennie and Haydn Tomlinson.
In the last game of the Black Dragon Badges South Division, Clifton’s first match under their new lights ended in disappointment as champions Mickleover Royals took the points with a three goal win.
Ash Lynch, Adam Burton and Joe Brockley scored the goals which gave the Royals a final winning margin of 10 points.
