Clipstone put three past Askern

CLIPSTONE Welfare remain in third place in NCEL Division One beating Askern Villa 3-1 with goals from Andy Jones, Gavin King and Sam West.

Manager Lee Tryner included four new faces Andy Jones, Luke Edwards, Kyle Ludlow and Sam West in his starting line up.

Clipstone got off to a great start dominating from the start, never letting Askern have much possesion.

New right-back Jones marked his debut by sidefooting home to open the scoring after a ball into the box was fumbled by the visitor’s goalkeeper.

The home side extended their lead through leading scorer Gavin King’s penalty after Jamie Tryner was manhandled by Askern’s left-back. The visitors pulled a goal back before Clipstone regained their two-goal lead with West heading home from a long Jones throw into the box.

The second half saw Jamie Davies make a fine save for Clipstone and efforts from Jimmy Adcock, King and Luke Edwards all flew over the bar.

Clipstone side: Davies, Jones(Middleton), Edwards, Ludlow(Dyson), Shaw, Panting, Adcock, Austin, King, Tryner(Issott), West. subs not used: Frost, Bramwell.
