Clipstone took all three points and extended their unbeaten run to nine games with a 6-1 win at Nostell MW.
The foundations of the imprssive win came with a superb opening 15 minutes in the second half when they scored three goals.
Clipstone now go back up into fourth place in the NCEL table with 32 points from 16 games.
The Cobras had deservedly taken the lead in the sixth minute when Brad Jones found Pat Lindley in the box.
However Nostell levelled within a minute through Josh Whitley.
Both sides had further chances during the first half with Nostell forward Rob Bordman, who also plays for Evo Stik outfit Ossett Town, initially causing problems.
However Chris Salt and Jack Hall gradually got to grips with him to such an extend that Bordman was anonymous in the second period.
On 18 minutes Steve Hernandez in the Clipstone goal produced a superb save to deny James Kitson who was through one on one. Nostell then hit the post from the resulting corner.
There was a chance for the visitors a few minutes later when Alec Denton headed a cross straight at ‘keeper Lee Ashworth and then the Cobras appeared to be denied a penalty when Nostell’s Ryan Donoghue seemed to pull Denton down in the box.
Denton then combined nicely with Alex Nightingale on the edge of the box and the latter saw his curling shot just go wide of the post.
The Cobras’ were a different side in the second half as they upped the tempo and looked to get the ball into the danger areas at the first opportunity. Within a minute of the restart Alec Denton scored from the spot.
Denton then found Alex Nightingale in the box and the latter did well to beat his defender, go round the ‘keeper and calmly slot home on 48 minutes. Nightingale nearly had another chance a few minutes later when he got on the end of a great ball from James Ashmore, but this time the covering defender did enough to prevent him getting a shot in.
On 54 minutes Liam Royles did well down the right hand side and put in the perfect cross for Alec Denton, but the Cobras’ forward for once failed to finish and put the ball over from inside the six yard box.
However he made amends on 55 minutes when at a set play he lost his marker and got his boot to a James Ashmore free kick and clipped the ball home from close range for a 4-1 lead.
Denton’s strike partner Jahmal Smith then grabbed a goal after 63 minutes when he received a long ball from Jack Hall and held off the defender’s challenge and ran on 20 yards before beating Lee Ashworth with a low shot.
The scoring was completed when Alex Nightingale capped a fine evenings work with his second goal on 69 minutes. Full Time 1-6
