Former Mansfield Town striker Danny Bacon has joined the backroom staff as player-coach at NCEL Division One side Teversal.

The management team sees Dean Short continue as manager with Craig Charlesworth as his assistant, but the club are excited to add Bacon, who joined the Tevie Boys as a player towards the end of last season, to the mix.

The striker also had spells at Hucknall Town, Lincoln City, Burton Albion, Worksop Town, Hednesford Town, and locally has played at Rainworth Miners Welfare prior to having some managerial experience whilst at Shirebrook Town and Blidworth.

Manager Short has now added the wealth of Bacon’s experience to his management team while his playing options will continue be a major asset in continuing the development of his young squad.

There have been a number of changes in what looks set to be an intriguing campaign for both the first team and reserves, who have gained a promotion into the Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Football League Black Dragon Division South.

The reserves see Jamie Hudson and Mitchel Wilson replaced by the former U18 management team of Richard Marriott and Trev Pearson.

Hudson has family commitments with his daughter taking up a position in the new FA Ladies game development programme at Derby County, while Mitchel Wilson has become Teversal Ladies manager.

With pre-season training well underway, the preparation moves up a notch with a programme of games, even though the reserves’ programme has been disrupted due to teams pulling out on previously arranged fixtures.
