ALFRETON Town manager Nicky Law has strengthened his squad by signing striker Drewe Broughton.

Law, who is currently without three of his six strikers through injury, has brought free agent Broughton to the Impact Arena and he will be available for this Saturday’s Blue Square Bet Premier Division home game against Braintree Town.

Broughton (32) has been without a club since being released by Lincoln City following their relegation from the Football League in May.

The much-travelled target man has shaken off a minor injury which saw him have to be substituted during two run-outs in pre-season friendlies with Alfreton.

At 6’3’’ he will bring plenty of height and power to the attack and has bags of experience with numerous clubs including AFC Wimbledon last season where Dons manager Terry Brown described Broughton as ‘an exemplary professional’.

He began his career in 1996 with Norwich City, where he made nine first team appearances before moving on to Brentford, Peterborough United, Kidderminster Harriers and Southend United.

Prior to Lincoln City whom he joined in 2010, Broughton was with Rotherham United, MK Dons, Chester City and Rushden & Diamonds.

Drewe will wear squad number 26 with the Reds.
