AFC Mansfield ended a miserable Monday with a 5-3 home defeat against AFC Emley on Saturday.
The Bulls goals came from Chris Timons, Danny Williams and Ryan Williams.
This however was not enough to stop the league’s in form striker Ashley Flynn plundering another hat-trick for Emley as he took his tally to 49 for the season.
Alex Hallam and Jordan Coduri completed the scoring for the visitors.
You got the sense that it wasn’t going to be The Bulls day when Emley went in front after just six minutes.
A harmless looking free-kick from Flynn 25 yards out seemed to be covered by Jason White, but a simple catch with his body behind it, somehow the ball squirmed through the usually dependable keeper’s hands and over the line.
The Bulls were quickly back on level terms when Chris Timons heading home Adon Spencer’s cross on 13 minutes.
Reuben Jerome went close for the visitors before Flynn got his second on 25 minutes when he drilled a low drive past White from 10 yards.
The second half started with another early goal for the visitors when Alex Hallam scored on 51 minutes.
Again AFC Mansfield came back with Danny Williams firing home from a tight angle after Lawlor had fumbled a cross on 55 minutes.
The goal of the game came on 58 minutes from Flynn who curled home a beautiful free-kick past White.
A minute later and The Bulls pulled another back when Ryan Williams lifted the ball over a group of players from 15 yards after Emley had failed to clear their lines.
The home side thought they had pulled level after a defender’s header ended up in the back of the net.
But an assistant’s flag was raised and the goal chalked off with the AFC Mansfield players protesting strongly.
It was all over on 80 minutes when Jordan Coduri fired in a low cross from the right flank that eluded a group of players in the box and nestled into the far corner of the net.
For the neutral this was a great game of football, for AFC Mansfield it was the most goals scored against them in over two years.
