No more fixture clashes vows Evans as U21s lose at Forest
Mansfield Town U21s lost 2-1 in the Central League Cup at Nottingham Forest this afternoon with new manager Steve Evans vowing that would be the last time the U21s play on a first team matchday.
“It’s disappointing it has fallen on a first team match day and that will change from now,” he said.
“It’s not right that I shouldn’t be able to go and see that. I don’t know why that would have been done like that, it was foolish.
“The youth team took part in that as obviously we have our first team squad on duty here.
“It’s very important to us that we are aware of what is below the first team as some of these kids, as we showed at Leeds, a couple of lads played in that team on Sunday that were identified by ourselves and we have to make sure we identify them here.”
Two Wright goals had Forest 2-0 up by the 13th minute before Lewis Collins found the empty net from distance after Forest keeper Chris Marques miscued a clearance on 65 minutes.
