Despite having so many games in hand on other sides in the Central Midlands League South table, Hucknall Town will not play again after this weekend until 7th January.

Hucknall face title rivals Selston on Saturday and boss Andy Graves said: “Unfortunately it’s our last game of the year.

“It will be the first time in 30 years I’ve not had a football game on Boxing Day unless it’s been called off.

“With the games we’ve got in hand you’d have thought they might be able to pull one in for us, but obviously not.

“We have no games until the 7th January after Saturday.

“However, we may play New Year’s Eve behind closed doors if we can get a game sorted, even if it’s just first team and reserves.

“The reserves have actually got a game on December 27th, so we may be able to use that for at least five of them to keep them ticking over.”

He added: “Then we might also arrange a behind-closed-doors game for Tuesday, January 3rd instead of training. We’ll see how things pan out.

“No one has anything over Christmas. We did say at the start of the season we’d be quite happy to play games over Christmas and New Year but there are none apart from that reserve game.”
