Bowery has bagged ten goals and five assists so far since joining on a free transfer from MK Dons in the close season..

But Clough believes Bowery, who scored twice in the midweek win over Cheltenham, can bag even more goals if he develops a selfish side.

“I think he has got more goals in him certainly,” said Clough. “He played more central the other night and if we do that more hopefully it will help him.

“Even if we play him in a 4-3-3 he has got licence to stay up there and get in the box when balls are coming in from the other side.

“We will keep working with him and Andy Garner talks to him a lot about being a bit more selfish at times.

“We love the team ethic and him wanting to help his team-mates, but the best thing he can do is score a goal for the team. The more we can get him in those positions the more he will get.

“It's very much a psychological thing for him to keep going and getting in the box.

“He's as good a finisher as anybody and has shown that in some of the goals he has scored.

“We have just got to get him into that position more often.

“We hope he can get to that 15 goals mark and do something similar next season.”

Nottingham-born Bowery has begun to recapture some of his best form following a difficult time at MK Dons where he struggled to establish himself.
