Law’s side have shown their resilience several times over the past few weeks and did so again at Gresley, coming from behind to win after conceding a 19th minute goal.

The victory extended the Reds’ unbeaten run to eleven games in all competitions.

It is a run which has totally turned the club’s season around but Law admits that you can’t be good all the time.

“It was hard work. It was a horrendous game on a horrendous pitch, in fact the pitch was possibly the worst I’ve ever seen, but at the end of the day, it is job done, we achieved what we went there to do.

“We are in the final, but we won’t dwell on it too much, we need to move on and focus on this Saturday’s important home league game” ended Law.

With their first Derbyshire Senior Cup final place since the 2007/08 season assured, the Reds return to their chase for a Vanarama National League North play-off place when Corby Town visit the Impact Arena this Saturday (3pm).

It is a first meeting of the season between the sides and both will be chasing the points for differing reasons.

Alfreton will be eager to keep up the momentum of their recent excellent league form which has seen them win six and draw two of their last eight outings.

It is a run which has carried them up the table to seventh place and they are now top of the current form table.

Corby are currently second from bottom of the table and firmly entrenched in a relegation fight but they will arrive buoyed by two league wins in the last three including a fine 2-0 home victory over Tamworth last Saturday.

The venue and date for the Derbyshire Senior Cup final against Belper Town will be announced as soon as confirmed by the county FA.
